From San Francisco Sandlot to the PCL

Pietro Ricci, aka Pete Ritchie lived in San Francisco's North Beach. Born south of the city in Woodside, Ca. In 1897. Pete became a local favorite as he worked behind the plate in the ranks of the local semi pro circuit. First catching notice when he was 17 on the North Beach Federals.

He was featured on a 1918 Zeenut baseball card as a member of the San Francisco Seals. Nevertheless, he played in the Pacific Coast International league with Seattle in 1918. It would be another year before he'd debut in the Pacific Coast League, with Seattle, who rejoined the Coast League after being gone since 1906.
